The ICS is the next generation one soldier combat shelter currently being used by the U.S. military. This next generation shelter is made of lightweight, durable, flame resistant ripstop nylon. Tent dimensions 96 in (L) x 40.5 in (W) x 32.5 in (H) at its peak, weight 6.5 lbs.
Details: The ICS is a versatile, man-portable, shelter system for one person. The ICS tent consists of a shelter body, an attachable rain fly (provides a waterproof shelter and forms a shelter storage vestibule, it also can function separately as a hooch), support poles, ground stakes, carry bag, and a field repair kit. The ICS is a single-storage vestibule, one-person size, double-walled, free-standing shelter that strikes easily. The ICS provides protection from rain, wind, and snow in climates ranging from basic cold through tropical hot without leaking or collapsing. The shelter is made with flame resistant materials.

I haven’t had the opportunity to setup the ICS tent. However, it is clearly very solid and well-built. I appreciate the fact it is free-standing and doesn’t require tent stakes but includes stakes if needed, especially in windy conditions. There is no odor that often occurs when getting a used tent. Having a bathtub floor is something that provides extra confidence in it being waterproof. While it would be nice to have bug screen on vestibule side of tent I am sure the large main entrance screen will allow for adequate ventilation. The use of buckles to attach rain fly is a very nice feature. I am confident the ICS will be a great tent for years.
The tent performs as expected and will keep you out of the elements. I tested it with my team during a mock disaster preparedness drill. It’s also a simple choice for a go bag/bug out bag tent for those that aren’t needing ultralight gear and prefer tents over tarp shelters. Would’ve preferred the woodland camo variant to be the first purchase, but I have one on the way now.
